I get my license in less than a year and I'm wondering if the 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix is a reliable car and if the gas mileage is good. Also I wondering what the cost might come up to. If you can tell me the pros and cons of the car. Thanks for the help.

I had a 98GT. It was a OK car. It got me around with little trouble. I drove the S#&^ out of it. I put in about 80000 miles in a year and a half. Only broke down once. Belt tensioner. The only bad things about her were, bad electric problems, as far as interior lights/heads up display working when they wanted to. Aslo there was a random leak, to where there was were pool's of water on the driver/passenger floor. I took it to about 7-8 different shops. No body could figure it out. So I just gave up. I sold her last year for $3000.

Gas mileage wasn't to bad for a V-6 on my average display screen it said between 20-26.

Good Luck.

I had a 97 gt for my first car and I loved it. Good gas milage and it has a nice look to it. I don't know if snow is an issue but the Grand Prix does fairly well in snow. I liked my 97 so much I bought an 06 gt. I had very few problems with my 97. The only thing I had to fix was the blower fan. It was only a $70 fix. Don't buy a Toyota, Honda, nissian ect.

Get the GTP and 240 HP. I owned one for 10 years and replaced it with a 2006 GTO. Great mileage almost 30 miles a gallon at 65 miles an hour freeway driving as low as 13 in town. However it is a good transportation car. As always buy the best example you can, look at lot's of Grand-Prixs before buying.

Face the facts. You bought an American car and it's over 13 years old now. Thus, your auto transmission is going out and needs a rebuild. You would be best off to sell it for what you can get and next time, buy a foreign car that will usually go over 300,000 miles. I used to put up with all the problems of American cars, but now I just spend a little more money and get Nissan or Toyota.
