From Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Politics

Politics is the process by which groups of people make decisions. It is the authoritative allocation of values. Although the term is generally applied to behavior within governments, politics is observed in all human group interactions, including corporate, academic, and religious institutions.

So, how do we take "dirty" away from a word that is so important to the continuation of our democratic way of life?

Maybe more people should read "Politics for Dummies." If everyone had a better understanding of the intricacies, maybe people would be less negative and actually participate in the process. What do you think?

When people think of politics, they imagine a bunch of people bickering over power and money. That's kind of what it is, really. However, it is much better for people to use politics to settle their differences and make decisions than using violence and war.

They may do better if they read that book, sure. They should have payed enough attention in their high school political science classes that they wouldn't need "Politics for Dummies".

Politics is complicated, and people understandably despise anything that makes their lives more complicated. I don't think you'll ever take that "dirt" out of that word.
