No it won't kill it..........it will slow down the growth, ferns like to be kept root bound somewhat to be at their best. Except for the Boston fern that does become rootbound fast.

Considered fussy. These need careful watering, so learn their special requirements.

Ferns: Adiantum, Nephrolepis, Pellaea, Pteris.
Ferns: The indoor environment is too dry for ferns. Boston fern (Nephrolepis) is tolerant, but it gets rootbound incredibly fast. Other ferns can be difficult to manage.

Replanting things is fine, ferns can be a little more delicate than other plants, but if you keep it out of sun and well watered for a few weeks after replanting it should recover just great!

I assume you mean a fern...and the answer is, norminally, no...if you are careful. dig and replant in the cool of the day...and be sure to place it where it is comfortable. Look where it is originally. Is the ground moist or dry. Iss the fern shaded or in the sun. Is it growing in a layer of leaf mold or surrounded by moss? Then make yopur new place match the ferns requirements.

If you mean fern, yes, if you do it wrong. No, if you do it right. I do it all the time, and none have died.
