"The surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that it never tried to contact us."

Actually the scientists say the probability of other planets with intelligent life is very high. The trouble is, they are just millions of light years away - the fastest speed possible. Besides, the nearest solar system to ours, if they could see us would be seeing life on the planet 300 years ago, because that's how long it took the light to get there. We would probably look like a bunch of yokels with our wigs and our 3-cornered hats. This is why I seriously doubt extraterrestial encounters.

Based on probability, I'd say 'no.' However, probability is only hypothesizing what COULD be rather than what is. Honestly, I'd say i have little clue. Also, the answer is contingent on what exactly is the definition of "waste of space." THAT is dependent on what is the truth/reality (i.e. God? What is life and death? Souls?), to which I also uselessly answer: "I have little clue"...

Think locally, not globally or universally, you can do more here than always thinking about what's out there! Have a very happy life

sure does. Doesn't it? But I doubt it. I dont think we are alone in the universe. Maybe the only ones to our species but not the only ones.
