As previously stated the rookie minimum this season is $285,000. Some free agent rookies are sought by multiple teams so some can get pretty significant bonus money to sign given their free agent status (usually they get a $5,000.00 signing bonus but some can get 25 to 30 G and on rare occasions up to 50 G). Plus while they are working out and doing training camps teams can pay them a stipend that can range from $500 to $1,000 per week (provided they sign a deal with the team). If they dont make the team they can sign on to the practice squad where they make $600.00 per week during the season (plus they keep the signing bonus but dont get the contract money).
