I have always acknowledged my grandmother on Mother's day. She is a mother after all isn't she? Every year I send her and card and call her (she lives in another country) and I think that grandparents should be acknowledged because they will do anything for you and at least once a year, you should celebrate them!

Grandma's are very lucky! We have TWO days to be recognized. We are of course, mothers first, on Mothers Day, and we also have a Grandparents Day set aside just for us.
President Jimmy Carter, in 1978, proclaimed that National Grandparents Day would be celebrated every year on the first Sunday after Labor Day

Well, considering that they were, at one time, a MOM, I'd say yes. Although there IS a holiday for Grandparents as well in, I think, September. Hallmark already knows about it, I've checked. LOL
Happy Mother's Day!!

I think it is just "woman I love day" in general. I'm not even a mom but my fiance & I still celebrate Mother's Day as "if I was a mom." It's great fun. So buy your Grannie something, your aunt, mom, sister, step-mom :)

Technically, no. Since it is *mother's* day, even if a woman happens to be a grandma, she is on that day being acknowledged as a *mother*.
But who am i to judge?

I always get my baba and gigi a gift for mothers day and fathers day. Its just a nice gift, and to say you think of them as your parents too since they are always there for you. Even if it is just a card.
