finger security?

i was woundering about a gadget i saw it was a finger pad that you plug into your computer,and you use it instead of typeing in a password,what i want to know is how good or secure this is.

its just something new to spend your money on........

They sell it had sam's club for like $40

I have lots of customers with IBM laptops that has this feature, so far I have not found one that actually using it. as for security, not much.
