first this is not the place to ask such questions. try looking for windows forums. to dave t and mat dont post if you dont know what you are talking about. some who ask such questions may follow your advice. although windows wont remove it ,where there is a will there is a way. kill.exe is a windows protected file it is part of your system. everything you see is a gui, graphical user interface aka gooey. even task manager will not be able to stop any program (process) were you able to delete it. this could be a joke virus (funny innit) as it seems to do no harm. however it has done some good as it has made you aware that yes even you could get one. here is where you can get a free for personal use antivirus program http://www.free-av.com/ there are many others. it may also be worthwhile getting spybot search and destroy and adaware se both also free. if you are on adsl i would also advise you to get a firewall/router you dont need to have a network to use one. if not there are good free firewall programs out there. sadly everyone needs some protection.

Kill.exe is a windows boot up file but it shouldn't be poping up in windows. If its in the system32 folder then it's more than likely to be maleware

Here use this site they'll help you to sort the problem out.

Its one of the best website out there for spyware, trojan, maleware removal advance. There's very little they dont know about.

We had it and it's because of a change in windows, meaning that your computer has changed a file due to a windows update. It has only changed the position of the file and your computer should run fine. If your anti- virus comes up with it then tell it to ignore. As long as the computer is still running ok then it should be alright. Search the Windows website for answers.

goto start up, settings, control panel, internet options and delete all of history, etc. this normally corrects the sad tw@ts that are out there. Get on the net locally and down load Zone Alarm free of charge. Run the package and find free on internet, a package to clean sweep your system, alot of gear is out there and free of charge, as most firms have caused this, and they have to rectify it, all the best Dale A.

The location and the timing make me suspect this is a virus, use a different Anti Virus software and do a full system scan

www.avast.com and download the home version, its very good at finding these things, after install, choose to scan when next restart.

the safest antivirus software is Norton. you have to pay for it but offten time the free stuff are viruses within themselves.... a black pop up window is kinda scary, never heard of that

Sounds like a virus. You can get an antivirus program to find it, or you can go to that address and manually delete kill.exe

You need find out which process causing this.
Download process explorer from the link below and try to locate malicious process(es).

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/ProcessExplorer.mspx

Terminate them one at a time until the popup disappears.
Remember the name of the process causing the popup.
Do a google search to find out solutions.

it could be a MS-Dos based virus or program. i would download avast from www.download.com and run a fool scan.

go to this site and submit the file

http://virusscan.jotti.org/

http://www.virustotal.com/vt/en

and they will run loads of tests on the file and tell you what to do.
