the tri-wing screwdriver is incorrect - that is for newer GBA games. game boy color (at least, all the ones that i have) use a 3.8MM bit with six inward grooves. i ordered the bits to open them from ebay [http://cgi.ebay.com/4-5MM-3-8MM-SECURITY-GAMEBIT-For-SEGA-N64-NES-SNES_W0QQitemZ260117300691QQihZ016QQcategoryZ41046QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ]

click here - [http://i5.tinypic.com/6b4od2e.jpg ] to see a picture of the one i have. i drew in the enlarged, to show you what the bit looks like

also, the battery is not easy to change, you'll need someone that can solder it back on, since a part of the computer chip inside has a wire already soldered onto it (you'll need to break it to change it)

[define: solder - use of a soft metal and a blow torch to attach metals to metals]

Just to point out, Nintendo has repair services available. For a small fee, Nintendo can replace your battery and save you all of the hassle.

Not too long ago, I sent in my GBA, and they replaced my battery and threw in some free game cases to boot for $15 (US) + S/H

You'll need a tri-wing screwdriver.
