There will be a warrant for your arrest and if you get pulled over, your car gets impounded and you go to jail.

Alright . ... reality check (although I really enjoyed the one about the bounty hunters).

First off.. Loan sharks have NOTHING on the fine schedules of parking tickets. You don't pay a $30 parking ticket and within a month or two it will be $200.

Next.. OK.. so you didn't pay one (or maybe you have a whole glove compartment filled with them). After a while your ticket moves into the seizure category. When tickets are written 'now a days' it is done electronically. Well that little gem not only logs in your ticket but it also checks on your license status.. If you have a bunch of them or one that has gone golden, one of two things happen
a) Out comes DAS BOOT. A niftyl little clamp that prevents you from driving unless you are willing to clump clump your way down the street while your fender is ripped to shreds.
b) Along comes the tow truck. Which will hoist up your car faster then you can whine the word 'Pleeeeeeezze'.
And along with either of these comes (of course) a "nominal" charge for the pleasure.

MEANTIME.. back at the ranch.. your registration will be placed on hold. That means when you go to get new tags.. Nope.. you will be re-directed to solve your problems with whatever City cited you.

BUT WAIT.. THERE's MORE.. in some states, after a hearing which you may or may not attend, the fine can even be sucked right out of any savings or checking account that they can find which has your SS# attached to it (remember when you had to supply your SS# as a part of the registration process.. now you know why..... and the state generally hires a collection agency and they are GOOOOOOD at finding them.

From there it prob. gets worse.. but hey.. by then you owe about $500 at least on that $30 ticket so why scare you further.

....
