does exxon need govt money if it profits $40billion a year?

Because the current crop of politicians (both sides) are bought and paid for by special interests and campaign donors. We THINK its a good idea to subsidies other energy sources, but the market should drive that.

Look at what the furor over ethanol has done to corn prices. And ethanol isn't really even energy positive-- it's as much or more energy to produce it as it provides.

Besides, Exxon is only about oil-- they clearly state they're not pursuing other energy sources. I don't have an issue with that-- they're sticking with what they do well.

Oil companies need no subsidies.

The taxes affect everybody and the top earners more.

You won't find this conservative supporting any government subsidy for anything.

The concept of spending the peoples' money to subsidize industries (including farms) is contrary to the Constitution, regardless of the profit (or loss) said company might make.

I'm strict constructionist regarding this, because there hasn't been any Amendment that gives the government power to subsidize commercial entities.

Why does the left whine about high gas prices, yet their environmental policies have stopped exploration and refineries?

Stuff like this is *not* partisan. BOTH sides are equally to blame for corporate welfare and subsidies.

I'm not conservative, but I am opposed to taxes and subsidies. How about you? Do you think that oil companies should receive subsidies?

I should add that I'm also opposed to AGRICULTURAL subsidies. Are you going to be consistent and oppose agricultural subsidies like I do?

Trust me, I can play this 'hypocrite card' better than you can.

Because it's the government withholding money from your paycheck, not Exxon.

(And, if you do have a problem with Exxon, you can buy your gas somewhere else).

they only whine about taxes for the rich...because they worship the rich that's why they support subsidies for the oil corporations.
