Getting Moth Ball smell out of shoes???

I recently brought a pair of sandals and they smell like moth balls. any suggestions to getting rid of this smell? I have placed the shoes outside of my house for the last two days now.

I sprinkle Backing soda in my shoes when they smell and it works for me.
