you managed to figure out how yahoo answers works but cant quite get a grasp on how mapquest works huh? sucks man....

It's 823 miles, but the time will depend on how fast you drive. Some of the previous drive times assumed 60 or 65 MPH. If you get on I-5 asap, the average speed is 75-85 MPH. That will take at least an hour off your drive time figuring you can go that fast as far as Stockton, making the trip about 11 hours of "drive time". Now you could do it in one day, but most people aren't that hard core. You need to add breaks for meals, bathroom, gas, stretching. If you drive it in one stretch, I would say it will take 14-15 hours, allowing for breaks.
(There's not much to see on I-5, it's just one long straight stretch of road, seperated by intermittent cattle stink, at least as far as Stockton)
