The birth controll pill is not 100% effective, but it does have a very high rate of protection from pregnancy. So, many people use that as the only form of protection against pregnancy - and it works for them. Cases where women still get pregnant on the birth control pill are rare, but of course it's still possible. Personally, I only take the birth control pill to protect against pregnancy, but I wouldn't be devastated if I was one of those rare women either! If you feel really strong about it, and you want to do *everything* you can to avoid pregnancy, you could try another birth control method in addition to that, such as wearing a condom.
There are some things that make the birth control pill less effective, and you might want to keep in mind. For example, some antibiotics reduce the effectiveness of the birth control pill, and a back-up form of protection should be used while taking antibiotics. Also, the birth control pill is less effective for overweight women, because a set doseage is usually given for all women regardless of their weight (and typically doseage of drugs should be adjusted according to weight).

I just read this month's Cosmo article about birth control. It was a nice "refresher" for me. :) The article states that the pill is 99.9% effective when taken every day at the same time. However, when women DON'T take the pill at the same time each day, the effectiveness drops to 92%. Being overweight can also lower the effectiveness.
If you're completely sure she takes her pill religiously, you're more than likely okay. Don't forget that certain medicines can weaken the effectiveness of the pill.
When I was on the pill, I felt like I was the healthiest I had ever been, and my husband and I could enjoy sex without condoms. I would like to point out though, that in your case neither of you want kids, and you're not married. Should my birth control have somehow failed me, we were both fully prepared to be parents if need be. If you're not in that frame of mind, you should probably still use some backup protection...or at the very least...make sure your girlfriend pees immediately after sex. ;)

I got pregnant while I was on the pill. Luckily I'm happily married and it was a welcomed surprise. However, if you aren't ready to be a father DON'T DO IT. The pill is not 100% effective and she can get pregnant. Why do you want to have sex without a condom anyway? You aren't married and that's how diseases spread. Keep yourself and her safe and keep using those condoms.

The pill is one of the most trusted methods of birth control, but it still has over a 1% failure rate. The pill with a condom has a 99.6% success rate. Look at the odds, pregnancy can still happen, and if you really aren't ready to take responsibility for a pregnancy, then the responsible thing to do is take the most precaution you can...famous last words: "It won't happen to us..."

First, your best option is to still use a condom. That way you have double-protection. If that's completely out of the question, she can always use a spermicide as well. There are several types from foams to suppositories. Keep in mind, spermicide is not a fail-proof birth-control. There's still a 20-30% chance of pregnancy (when using only spermicide & no other form of birth control/protection).

I wouldn't.
Even if used perfectly, the Pill is only like 97%p ercent effective. That means three percent of the people who do everything perfectly still get pregnant! Are you willing to be a daddy for the rest of your life to get a few minutes of a slightly better sensation?
My husband still uses a condom and we have been married for five years!

Because beginning manage does now not look after you from STDs. Only a condom can do this. It's exceptional that your gf is on beginning manage, as you're proper approximately it being extra powerful towards being pregnant. However oral beginning manage and different contraceptives, such because the beginning manage jewelry and pictures, DO NOT look after you or her from STDs. Pulling out/Withdrawing (something you decide on to name it) could also be for the prevention of being pregnant, now not STDs. The simplest time it's secure to NOT use condoms is whilst BOTH of you're monogamous and BOTH of you might have not too long ago been checked for STDs and HIV/AIDS, and had bad outcome surely. Even if you already know you and your associate had been monogamous, you must each be demonstrated each and every 6 months simply to be definite. Remember that you do not ought to have intercourse to get HIV/AIDS, and the final factor you wish to do is deliver your associate an STD.

Yes she can still get pregnant. The only way not to is to practice abstinance. I have several friends who got prego on the pill and I even have a friend that got prego on three different types of BC. The pill, the patch and the shot. 3 of her 4 kids were concieved while on bc. Its kind of a fat chance but it definately could happen.

You should be clear as long as she takes it like she's supposed to. The pill worked for me for 3 yrs after i had my son. But it's not 100% guaranteed considering i got pregnant with my first while on the pill and took it regularly. But it's possible after prolong use of the same brand, your body could become immuned to it, which i think was my case.

I have been on the pill for about 3 years and me and my boyfriend have had sex without any other precautions and never got pregnant but it is not 100% trustworthy. The chances are you won't need to worry but you just never know. If you and your partner are not ready for a baby i'd make sure and use extra precautions just in case!
