60 million years ago, the mammals that would eventually evolve into humans (and every other mammal on earth) probably looked a lot like the present day squirrel. In another 60 million years, who knows? The descendants of squirrels may be the dominant life form and Man may not even be a memory.

Not anytime in the lifetime of man on this world. Monkeys will never evolve enough and machines are only as smart as the guy that programed them. I don't think that mankind is stupid enough to build something like "Skynet" in the Terminator and let it completely take over the planets defense system without some sort of foolproof fail-safe system in place.

In the future, the transhumanists will dominate.

These will be "humans", in the sense that they will have a genetic code largely based on what we know today as "Homo Sapiens", but they will have been modified with DNA that is either derived from other organisms, or custom made in laboratories. Furthermore, these "people" will be technologically enhanced by computers with neural interfaces, artificial muscles, bones and organs, and other technologies that we haven't yet imagined.

God is going to destroy the wicked people and then Jesus Christ is going to rule the world. That is when that scripture is fulfilled where he said the Meek will inhabit the earth.

Is the love of God violated by destruction of the wicked?
2 Pet. 3:9: “Jehovah . . . is patient with you because he does not desire any to be destroyed but desires all to attain to repentance.”
Luke 18:7, 8: “Shall not God cause justice to be done for his chosen ones who cry out to him day and night, even though he is long-suffering toward them? I tell you, He will cause justice to be done to them speedily.”
2 Thess. 1:6: “It is righteous on God’s part to repay tribulation to those who make tribulation for you [his servants].”

(Matthew 24:36-42) 36 “Concerning that day and hour nobody knows, neither the angels of the heavens nor the Son, but only the Father. 37 For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 38 For as they were in those days before the flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark; 39 and they took no note until the flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken along and the other be abandoned; 41 two women will be grinding at the hand mill: one will be taken along and the other be abandoned. 42 Keep on the watch, therefore, because YOU do not know on what day YOUR Lord is coming.

(Matthew 24:20-22) . . .; 21 for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again. 22 In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short.

Humans don't rule the universe. They never have.
Humans don't rule the planet well, and they most likely will become extinct sooner than expected.

humans will probably die out after globalisation strikes its fatal blow and then our species will cease to exist. but, maybe some forms of bacteria will have developed over time to survive and slowly they will evolve and rule the world again, from scratch.
