go to dell.com i got my laptop for just over 500 and it has a big screen and 2 year warrantyy.

I really prefer Toshiba laptops - I have owned three now and have never had a problem with one. I've been able to sell the old one after a couple years use for almost what I paid (after rebate) - they really hold their value.
As for the best model, that depends on what size screen you want - 15.4" or 14.1"? I watch the local ads and find one that has the features I want with a really good rebate. My last rebate from Toshiba only took a couple of weeks.
