I hope your World Series prediction is correct, because those are the two teams I put money on in Vegas last week.
My prediction is that the Yankees win the division by three games, then defeat the Dodgers or Mets in the World Series.

Ill be realitstic unlike some, the Yankees will lose the Al East by 3 games when all is said and done to the Red Sox, at this point the Red Sox are a stronger team. The Yankees have a suspect pitching staff and one of the worst bullpens in the league and pitching wins games. Clemens is not a proven fix for you yet bcause he is old, he is coming over a mediocre season in the weaker National League, and he has not even thrown a pitch yet so who knows what to expect, Wang is up and down, Petite looks great one game and is getting bombed the next, Mussina is getting up there and battling injuries and you have a rotation of young kids circling your spot. Even if you get a great starting pitching performance your bullpen comes in and blows the game, be realistic as of right now the Yankees are losing the division by at least three games. Things can always change but nright now they are not a championship team, they have a great offense but that means nothing when your pitchers ae getting bombed.

The Yankees will win the division by 10 games. They will play the Phillies in the world series. The Yankees will win the series in 7 games. It will be considered the greatest world series in baseball history.

The Yankees don't seem like they have the pitching to get the Red Sox,even with Clemens. He only has to pitch 5 innings anyway. And for the wild card the Indians and Tigers have had extremley tough schedules so far and they are both crusing. The Indians aren't even hitting well yet.So the wild card looks out of of shot.To make the playoffs would be a challenege ,never mind the world series.

They'll probably win their division by a game over Boston, but considering that the best division is the AL Central with Cleveland, Detriot, Minnesota, and Chicago all figuring to be playoff and series contenders, and all with a good rotations and bullpens, it is unlikely that the Yankees will go far in the playoffs.
My prediction is that they lose in the ALDS to whoever wins the AL Central.

I say they lose the division by about 15 games this year.I know Yankees fans have become accustom to the big comeback surge but lets keep things in perspective and think about this.In those years they came roaring back they had guys like Clemens,Petite,Orlando Hernandez,David Wells in their primes when they were pitching 7 8 and even a full nine sometimes consistently. When they did have to come out early the bullpen was rested and strong.
This years yankees team is all starters good for 6 innings at best, maybe a few 7 inning days for petite but even his health has been shaky last couple of years. This translates into a bullpen that will be very taxed and very tired before we even hit midseason.Clemens and Mussina will watch many quality starts blown by their bullpens when they exit after 5 and 2/3 to 6 innings on average.Wang has no power stuff and hitters are more familiar with him so you will see him getting knocked out of alot of games earlier then last year as well.He won't be pitching alot of 8 inning games like last year.
Think about it.Arod had a huge monster april and Jeter played very well to and they still had a bad losing record coming out of april. Its obvious that a great batting lineup can only do so much. They need a complete overhaul of their starting rotation and need to use some of that big payroll to go after younger arms who can last longer and keep the bullpen rested. They need to get Cole Hamels,Matt Cain,Rich Hill type guys and stop hoping for guys like Mussina,Clemens and Petite to become the 8 inning work horses they once were cause thats just not going to happen. If the Red Sox Rotation stays healthy theres no way the yankees can keep up.Roger pitched 5 to 6 inning last year just about every start and hes not getting any younger.I am a Sox fan and you might find me bias cause of it but i am just poitning to the reality of the situation. In past years when the sox had the lead I also predicted when the Yankees would come back and knock them back to second cause though I am a fan I am also a realist and look at what both teams got going for them and what realistically will happen as a result.I don't let my being a fan cloud my judgement on what will most likely happen. In this case the yankees bullpen is going to hurt them bad this year from overuse, even a Yankee fan has to see this coming from a mile away.
Saying they will lose the division by 15 games is being optimistic unless they make some major changes by mid season.Personally i need the yankees to succeed to keep my passion for the game going. What good is it to have a rivalry when one of the teams is not competitive. If the Yankees our out by 20 games come august, whos going to give two craps when the yanks or sox are coming to town when the playoff race isn't on the line like we have become accustom to.We love to hate each other but we kind of need each other to be successful to keep our passion for the rivarly and the game intense. In that way i really do hope the Yankees turn it around and we can have another tight race and feel the exictement of a late season showdown but realistically I just don't see the Yankees turing it around given the current circumstances. They need to do away with Cashman hes the one who is going the all bats and shallow picthing strategy.I respect Joe Torre and think hes doing his best with the card hes been dealt. They need a fresh general manager who will deal Torre better cards when it comes to a strong starting rotation.

Doubt the Yankees will win the division, might win the wild card if the AL Central teams beat up on each other. If they do, they are more of an average team than the Yankees of the late 90s and I don't think that they will take off.

The won't win the AL East. Their health will be a breaking point, they will not get their full staff back at the same time, and they will lose the AL East by 3+ games. If Detroit and Cleveland keep their seasons going the way they are, NY may not even get a wildcard position. The only team NY will destroy at the end of this season is themselves. There is going to be quite a few changes in staff after this season.

They'll win the division by a margin between 3 - 10 games. They'll play the Braves in the fall classic, and win 4 games to 1.

The Yankees will not win the AL East. Why? Because Roger Clemens can't save the team's bullpen from blowing games. He can't pitch for more than 6 innings at a time.
