wireless and gaming does not mix for some games.... its like a cell phone.. sometimes you lose packets and that = lag for the game...

There are a couple of ways to go. One would be to buy a wireless PCI adapter - typically I would use the same brand that your router is for ease of configuration (although almost all brands are compatible - 802.11b,g etc.). For this you'll have to open up your machine and install the card. Another way to go is to buy a cheap USB wireless adapter. These are usually less powerful, but they work.

If you are gaming I would suggest going with the PCI adapter. It will be a cleaner more effective connection with very little delay.

You really don't need to know much as far as specs, as all of the wireless equipment sold these days far exceeds the capability of your home ISP's connection speed anyways. Just go out and find yourself a wireless USB adapter for your desktop, and you should be fine.

Wireless was the slowest option you could have gone to for gaming.

in addition security is not the best; people steal your bandwidth; etc.; etc.; etc.

Nope. No wireless for me until they close the holes with new technology and/or software. Not only that, but it is expensive and just not worth it at this point in time.

you need IEEE standard 802.11G standard NIC card with 108MBPs transfer speed.. but you need to make sure your wireless router is able to provide that kind of speed.. you can get PCI card or USB if do not want to mess around inside the box. I use netgear for my Networking stuff.. check out their website. Linksys is good too they are from SYSCO.
