I have this problem too! Don't you wish you could just sit and read like 10 chapters or something and enjoy it? My sisters and their boyfriends do that. I ALWAYS see them reading... I'm like "Wanna go outside and jog or something?" they like to read. And I want to also, for some reason I'm not like them. But I would love to be entertained so much by a book. I guess, like everyone is telling you... force yourself at first. That's what I'm gonna start doing. Find a book that is really interesting to you and read a chapter every night. It takes about 4 weeks to make or break a habit. good luck! My only problem is I don't get into bed until about midnight cause i run at night and i have to wake early in the morning for school. UGH! But I'm determined. Hey, why not find a book that a movie was based on like Rocket Boys (October Sky), Princess Bride or The Neverending Story, watch the movie first then read the book. That way our imaginations can have a good starting point cause we aren't "seasoned" readers yet... Good Luck!!

After reading your question it is clear to see the difficulty you face with developing a reading habit.
You may articulate yourself well through speech, like all languages in the world, however you seem to be in a hurry to communicate and subsequently receive information.

Even at your age, the least amount of words in a book require your understanding, not only of the words being said but the information being communicated to your other faculties such as memory or imagination.
The best way to develop your reading habit is to examine literature, not as something to be conquered but as something you are missing because of the walls you have created.
This may not be your fault; being 13 is a difficult time in life and so many factors go into why you feel this way. However, you have to find a way to free yourself of early teenage pride (we've all been there) and savor just how good a good book really is. This will help encourage a worthwhile reading habit. You could start by asking friends to summarize the books for you, and give them a few minutes to finish so you can try to taste the excitement they had.

You should go to the library and get the librarian to help you find books on topics that you are interested in. Then you can check out the books for free instead of buying them--in case you find out you don't really like the books after all! Reading anything at all--even magazines and comic books, or internet sites--is better than reading nothing at all, especially if you are trying to make reading a habit! I hope this helps!

It doesn't matter what your friends read, everyone has different tastes. There are some great books aimed at teenagers your age, so ask the librarian or book store clerk for help with choosing something. Before you go to sleep, read for half an hour every night, and go from there.

as a librarian find a type of book that you like. To do this what are your interests? Do you like dogs for example. Then I would recommend a book on dogs to you, yes non fiction would work too. Then after you have exhausted the subject go on to something else that you are interested in. That way you have developed a love of reading.

Find something that you are REALLY, REALLY interested in to read about. Then find books that cover that interest. Read from them everyday. Have patience with yourself, and don't beat yourself up too much about it. It's cool that you're concerned about developing a reading habit! :)

Start reading at bedtime. It is a great way to wind down at the end of the day.

It might improve your spelling as well... ;)

Judging by your punctuation and spelling I don't see how anyone could say you have good English.
