Lately people have been pointing out to me that my lips keep turning blue, i often feel really cold when the weather isn't that bad but sometimes i don't even feel that cold when my lips turn blue. My hands also change to a kind of yellow and purplish colour when they aren't that cold either. At night i often feel overly warm, it sometimes keeping me awake. Does anyone know a reason for this?

You could have poor blood circulation, you need to go to the doctor and get a check up it could also mean a heart condition or you might have thick blood and they will have to give you a pill to thin it out.

Um..... That ain't no skin condition, honey... Seriously though, blue lips is typically a sign of poor oxygen flow, however, as a child I was exceptionally tiny and thin; every time I went to the swimming pool my lips turned blue due to cold. Basically, two things I would be monitoring are his body temperature, and, perhaps, what you're feeding him. Maybe he has an allergy that contributes to decreased oxygen and air flow. It's also possible he has issues with his circulatory system (seems most likely to me). I'm guessing that you have taken him to docs other than pediatricians, though if you haven't I'm not educated enough to tell you whom to take him to. The fact that he is 2 1/2 tells me that he is becoming vocal. Have you noticed him complaining about feeling poorly when his lips are blue? If he hasn't been, perhaps the docs are correct. Maybe it really is no big deal (as it was with me and the cold). Pay close attention to your son to gather more information. Ask him how he feels. Observe his energy level. If he is having difficulty breathing or is not receiving adequate oxygen then he will likely behave as though he is sleepy. If he is running around, however, then he is likely fine. I have no instantaneous diagnosis, but with more information, if there is truly a problem, you can go to your doctor and tell him exactly what is wrong with your son. I've noticed that sometimes, with doctors, it's important to sound exceptionally confident so they will take you seriously (as it is with school employees- which you will soon learn). Use sites such as web MD and google symptoms. You may come up with something that I haven't. To sum up: if there are no other symptoms besides blue lips, I wouldn't panic. but if he's lethargic, sleepy, or has difficulty breathing, I would certainly continue my fight. I hope I helped, and I wish the best for you and your son. Heather

You may have the disease called Raynauds, it is a circulation disorder. I have had this disease for about 23 or more years. Do your feet also turn colors as well, like your toes. From blue, red and maybe even white.

You may want to look it up on the web to see if it matches any of your symptoms. You really don't have to be super cold to have your hands turn colors. I have been outside in the summer in the evening time and when the wind was blowing and my hands turn colors. My body temp. just seems to drop, like my internal thermostat doesn't work properly. I get cold super easily and I feel like I'm freezing.

You may have Reynaud's Disease which is characterized by cold hands and poor circulation of the extremities.

On the flip side, it could always be a heart problem and caused by poor circulation due to a dysfuntional heart. I recommend going to your doctor to follow up.
