Sorry, Jospeph, butan-1-ol will intoxicate you in much the same way that ethanol will.
The hazards of using butan-1-ol (AKA 1-butanol, n-butanol) are very similar:
1. It is moderately flammable.
2. It is irritating to the skin, eyes, upper respiratory tract.
3. It is a central nervous system depressant and is readily absorbed into the body through the skin or by inhalation of its vapours.
4. Chronic effects include hearing loss and damage to the kidneys and liver.
5. The acute effects include dizziness, nausea, headaches...pretty much the same things you get from ethanol.
If you want to know about the hazards of chemicals, search the internet for the MSDS (material data safety sheet). The hazards are listed in section 3 of every MSDS, and these forms are available for virtually every chemical out there.

The general law for alcohol is the longer the carbon chain, the less toxic they are. Methanol is a quite toxic substance. Ethanol is toxic enough to intoxicate us but we find it fun. Butan-1-ol won't intoxicate you. If it has a good taste it could be used like the Syntho-ol in Star Trek. But then you would have to go through FDA approval.
