Safe, less traffic, friendly people, fresh air, peacful, usually very low crime rate. I know you don't want the corny stuff, but it's usually true; everyone does know everyone. Especially if it's a town of a population 2000-. I live in a small town and I LOVE it! So much better than living in the crowded, traffic jam city!

1. Traffic! No being stuck in traffic or taking an hour and a half to get to work.
2. Smaller schools which mean smaller classes with more individualized attention.
3. Generally a lower crime rate and less violent crime.
4. Typically a little more traditional values.
5. Less crowding every where. IE: more land, larger land lots, less waiting in line etc...,

Small towns are more affordable, which adds to your quality of living. Also, when you're outside, you don't smell automobile fumes all the time. You don't have to put up with a bunch of traffic, and you aren't crowded into some subway train with a bunch of strangers.

No light pollution, you actually do know your neighbor, it's not unusual to leave your house/car unlocked. My favorite part though is being able to go outside and hear nothing except for nature; small stream gurgling, birds chirping, etc.. Everything just seems so much purer. And the smell, trees, grass, especially after it's just rained.

I don't care what Mellancamp says I don't like living in small towns. Whatever positive benefits they may, have are negated by the personal loss of anonymity. I LIKE it when everybody doesn't know my name.
