I'm 35weeks with gestational diabetes. This morning I ate my morning snack a little late and my sugar was low (I felt shaky). A few minutes before I ate and up to an hour after my tongue felt tingly like it was going numb. What would cause this. Should I be concerned or call the doctor? I feel okay now.

Could it be because my sugar was low or something else?

It might be unrelated to the pregnancy and the diabetes. My mom and her brother are both allergic to certain fruits, and when they eat them, the tingling tongue is the first thing that happens. My mom had eaten kiwi her entire life, and suddenly developed an allergy to it now that she's in her 50's.

If you are okay now, just avoid eating whatever it was again until you can ask the doctor about it.

I would alert my doctor, but you can have all sorts of weird things happen while pregnant. My toes always went numb differnet ones at different times, I was told that it was a nerve ending being pressed by the baby. Maybe that was why?
