I drive a 1994 Honda Passport and when I put my foot on the gas, the car doesn't move! When I take my foot off the gas pedal, I have to wait until the car is down to 20mph for the car to shift back into gear in order for me to be able to press the gas again. If I continue to press on the gas, the "Check Transmission" light will come on. Is it def my tranny or could it be something else? I've taken it to 2 mechanics and they both said there's nothing wrong with the car, but I know it is - I drive it every day and can feel it. What could it be?

If you have a problem with your throttle position sensor, then your check engine light would more than likely be on. This can cause a false feeling of a bad transmission. If that doesn't do it, it may be the trans, but that seriously sounds like the throttle position sensor.

I'm kinda confused as to what is actually happening. Are you driving and suddenly pressing the gas pedal to find no response. Or are you sitting at a stoplight and press the pedal with no response.

If it is doing this while in motion it could be the fact that you have an electonic throttle. Take it to a dealer and have them run a diagnostic. DO NOT LET THEM TELL YOU NOTHING IS WRONG WITH IT!!!

They will try if they cannot find the problem. That does not mean that it isn't there.

havana, if her transmission light goes on, chances are she's having car problem. Dont listen to that other idiot. When you hit the gas, the RPMs go up, but the car doesnt move? If so, it sounds like your trans. has started to slip. Sometimes mechanics dont catch the problem unless they test drive the car, or even because it happens occassionally until it gets real bad. First check your transmission fluid level. If low, I recommend adding Lucas Transmission Fix, many shops use it to lubricate valves and stop leaks around your seals. If you're lucky, it might even stop your slippage. If none of this helps take it to a different mechanic.

It sounds to me like the transmission shift computer is on the fritz. You can have this diagnosed at most any transmission shop but beware that the transmission may have been damged by this malfunction as well, so have it thoroughly checked out. It will probably cost a couple hundred to do so, but it's better to find out if there is a problem than to replace parts only to realize that it will not help you any.

If you open the hood of the car you should see a lot of wires attached to your G18 valve, there is a red and blue, plug in the blue and take out the red, the same thing happened to my buddies car. Make sure you put the red one back in to the CSG unit compartment. if not your car will have the same problems. another problem could be that your Intension 16 motour isnt in good condition, take this out and screwdriver it open. there are a lot of wires, take the orange one and snap it. this will help circulate the power more evenly, install that in again in your car should be in tip top shape! good luck

It sure sounds like the transmission. Especially with the warning light. Can you shift it manually?

I would take it to a Honda dealership and have them diagnose it.

YOU SHOULD GET THE VEHICLES COMPUTER SCANNED AND CHECK FOR ANY PROBLEMS AS WELL AS CODES AND THEN YOU WILL HAVE A GOOD IDEA ON WHAT THE PROBLEM TRULY IS.

TRY FINDING AN INDEPENDENT SHOP INSTEAD OF THE DEALER OR A CHAIN STORE BECAUSE YOU WILL BE OVERALL MORE PLEASED WITH THE FINDINGS AND THE SERVICE.

how about instead of taking it to all of these mechanics just take a look yourself... unless you arent a great mechanic type of person. because it sounds like its slipping and you need a completely new transmission.

hope i helped somewhat
