I feel that they should never have left their children alone but they did, and this terrible thing has happened.
They must be going through hell at this moment and deeply regretting leaving them, so I don't think they need to be told what they already know.
Isn't the most important thing at the moment to find Maddie to pray she is returned safely and put an end to their suffering?

Are you suggesting that whilst the parents were "getting away with it", they were somehow good parents. I have tried to look at this from both sides but I cannot move away from the fact that BABIES were left on their own. Never mind being adbucted, what about fire or, the older child just wandering out of the apartment. Do you think that this was the first time there were left alone? unlikely, they were probably doing it every night and therefore, made themselves an easy target for any stalkers out there. They were extremely lucky that the other babies were left - all three could have been snatched. Of course, we all want the little girl to be found. If this was a working class family that left their kids the would be hung, drawn and quartered by the press.

No! the parents of Maddie are both highly intelligent people with repectable jobs as doctors, they had resonsiblty of looking after there children whilst holiday, unfortuatley something awful has happened. But if a child had come into there hospital and there where signs of neglect then they would have duty of care to report it, under the child protection. I hope this child turns up safe and well. But the parents have themselves to blame, there was a baby sitting service available and they refused to use it. You never leave children unattended, anything can happen in half an hour. And if this had happened to some down and out single mother, then it would be a different story.

It is very difficult to judge peoples actions when you were not there but what I would say is that we have had 4 children and there is no way and I mean no way my wife would have left the children alone under those circumstances or any other circumstances for that matter.. I can't say that had they stayed in with the children it would not still have happened because I think that they were being watched and had they been sitting in another room possibly with the TV on whoever did this terrible thing could still have broken in and snatched Maddy. That has been done in the past.

I wish people would stop saying the McCanns "made a mistake". You cannot leave 3 children alone in a hotel room "by mistake". What they made was a decision. This is why people are so angry.
Unfortunately, you're probably right about other people doing it but getting away with it, but this doesn't make it right, does it? I'm sure any stories about other parents doing the same would be treated with the same contempt too.

if they could have prediced this would happen, obviously they wouldnt have left their children alone in a room in a different country. But they did,now they have to live with the consequences(which are awful).Personally I wouldnt leave my children anywhere unattended as this thing does go on (and being doctors they see the type of people that are out there! - they should have been more careful i think) But rather than blaming them now, I think that everyone should pray for the little girls safe return! the parents will never ever forget this and hopefully it will be a lesson to others too.

just because other parents have done the same thing and luckily without these terrible circumstances the parents must have some of the blame. these wasnt uneducated ppl. they knew the dangers and frankly leaving your children alone in a strange country and allowing strangers to check on her letting the knowledge she was on her own was beyond stupid. i dont believe they've hurt her or had a hand in it. but the fact is they didnt look after her properly cos if she had she'd never of been taken. simple as that.

Parents are always making mistakes, but that was totally careless of her parents to leave her alone like that. My son is only 19 months, but I have never left him alone anywhere, not even in my car. He did get locked in the car once cuz i forgot to grab the keys, but the police came and got him out within 10 minutes (and he was sleeping, thankfully). I felt like such a horrible parent then, i couldn't ever imagine leaving my kid alone in a room in a foreign country. shame on her parents.

They did do something wrong, hence the situation they are in. To leave a 3 yo in charge of a couple of 2yos is irresponsible. For the sake of a drink and 10er an hour to risk the lives of your children.
If yur kids were 8 it would be stupid but to some degree you might understand, because they can do somethings for themselves but at 3 they barely know right from wrong.
They should have know better, they're doctors, educated and should really have done better.
Lets just hope she turns up safe and sound.

People are always cruel. Yes Maddie's parents made a HUGE mistake leaving their children alone. This is a mistake that will haunt them for the rest of their lives. However, can everyone with hand on heart say that they have never made a mistake? I make a mistake nearly every day, not as serious as that one though. People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones!
