How to convert internal floppy/zip drives into external floppy drive?
My desktop motherboard failed but my laptop doesn't have floppy/zip drives

you can buy a IDE to USB device. i suggest buying it from ebay. they r super cheap there less than $20.
or go here if u do not have an ebay account.

A floppy drive and a zip drive are 2 different things. You can get a USB floppy drive fairly cheap (about $25.00) but if it is a zip drive - they are no longer made so start searching ebay. You can get an external that uses a parallel interface (that's the printer port).
