MY CAR IS SPUTTERING UNDER MODERATE LOAD. THIS HAPPENS BETWEEN 1900-2200 RPMS. THIS MAKES DRIVING AT 55-60 VERY ANNOYING. I USUALLY DROP IT FROM OD TO D TO ELIMINATE JERKINESS. UNDER HEAVY LOAD,IT DOESN'T ALWAYS SPUTTER, BUT SEEMS TO LACK OOMPH IN GENERAL. MY PLUGS AND PLUG WIRES APPEAR TO BE FINE. I'M THINKING IT MAY BE FUEL RELATED. IT CHUGS DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 65-70 QUITE NICELY. I THINK I SHOULD BE GETTING BETTER THAN 20-21 MPG, THOUGH. HELP?

I put a lighted contraption between plugs and wires and put the car in reverse with the brake engaged and revved up the engine to reproduce the phenomenon. We did not see any evidence of miss-firing.

I've got an '01 SSEi and if you're finding that shifting at low speed is "Clunky"....it's the pressure control solenoid.

Otherwise check your fuel filter and make sure your injectors are clean. You should be getting 30 mpg. I do, even with the supercharger.

How many miles on the car? Could be fuel related problem, filter or pump pressure but I think it's a bad ignition module or coils going out...very common on these motors. Does the car seem to misfire under load? Replace as a set because once one component goes bad it puts a strain on the others and they don't last long...don't bother having them tested at a parts store unless they test them when they're hot...the engine heat over time causes them to fail and testing when cold is not accurate to tell how they perform when warmed up. hi Are those issues in basic terms obvious on an identical time as the automobile is idling or cruising at gentle throttle, disappearing under acceleration? if so then in the event that they are in basic terms obvious with a chilly engine then have the coolant sensor regarded at, in the event that they are in basic terms obvious with a warm engine then have the oxygen sensors regarded at, in the event that they are obvious in any respect engine temperatures then have the throttle sensor and crank sensor regarded at. in the event that they ensue in any respect engine temperatures and at any throttle place then have the throttle sensor and crank sensor regarded at.you're able to as nicely decide to do away with the EGR valve and supply it a solid sparkling out in basic terms for stable degree because of the fact if this sticks open it is going to reason working issues. very proper regards Geordie
