since its an equation, you can do anything to one side of the equation without changing its equality as long as you do the SAME to the other side of the equation...
so, lets subtract the same component from BOTH sides of the equation...

lets start wtih subtracting 0.19x from both sides, that gives us:

0.24x - 0.19x + 25.0 = 0.19x -0.19x + 31

subtracting, we have:

0.05x +25 = 31

now subtract 25 from both sides, giving us:

0.05x + 25 - 25 = 31 - 25

subtracting, we have:

0.05x = 6

now dividing both sides of the equation by 0.05, we have:

0.05x / 0.05 = 6 / 0.05

that gives us:

x = 120

0.24x+25=0.19x+31

0.24x - 0.19x = 31 - 25

0.05x = 6

x = 6/0.05

x = 120

Think 0.05 as 5/100 then 6/0.05 = 6/(5/100) = 600/5 = 120

First: combine "like" terms on one side (left); subtract 0.19x from both sides (when you move a term to the opposite side, always use the opposite sign).

0.24x - 0.19x + 25 = 0.19x - 0.19x + 31

0.24x - 0.19x + 25 = 31

0.5x + 25 = 31

Sec: subtract 25 from both sides....

0.05x + 25 - 25 = 31 - 25

0.05x = 31 - 25

0.05x = 6

Third: solve for "x" by dividing 0.05 with both sides.

(0.05x/0.05) = 6/0.05

x = 6/0.05

x = 120

It's straightforward algebra.

0.24x + 25 = 0.19x + 31

Subtract 0.19x from both sides, and also subtract 25 from both sides.

0.24 - 0.19x = 31 - 25

Combine like terms.

0.05x = 6

Now divide both sides by 0.05.

x = 120

1. Subtract both sides from 25, you end up with 0.24x=0.19x+6
2. Subtract both sides by 0.19x, you end up with 0.05x=6.
3. Divide both sides by 0.05, you end up with x= 120

1. 0.24x+25-25= 0.19x+31-25 = 0,24x= 0,19x+6
2. 0.24x-0.19=0.19x-0.19x +6= 0.05x=6
3. 0.05x/0.05=6/0.05 = x=120
