Look at a company like Aveda - and for someone who's gotten a perm or highlight, you know theres a ton of chemicals in those products.

I would suggest looking for one, even if it is a smaller, less well known company, that is close to where you live. maybe you could get a tour, a bunch of info, and a short interview with an exec.
this would be way easier and more fun than just doing "regular" research.
otherwise, you shold think about a company whose products you or your family uses often; it may change your mind about that product!
