I'll give you the answer straight from the horse's mouth.

One answer above stated that the schedule has slipped. This is true, but only slightly. The Space Shuttle program will end in 2010-2011. At this time, Ares (CEV, HLV) production will go into overdrive.

Currently, the CEV is slated for its first test launch in 2014. Personally, I believe we will hit this date. However, unforeseen issues could hold it back until maybe a year later. Ultimately, NASA is striving for a Moon landing by 2020, but I would venture a guess that it will be more like 2022 or so.

It will be tested in an unmanned mission in 2009 (if they follow the current schedule). I hope it will be a success. This is an interesting era to live in. We are beginning a new age of space travel with this vehicle.

No way it will be complete as soon as 2010. Last I heard the 2013 schedule may slip.

I've heard great things in the news about it, but 2010 is a bit too optimistic I think. I think that it will be later than that.
