I will be 8 weeks on my first visit. They said the appointment will be 1-2 hours. You think they will do an ultrasound?

I have really good insurance that covers up to 6 for a healthy pregnancy.
They don't have the machines in the rooms, but they do have a room for it in the same office.
I did take fertility drugs and even though it's only a 10% chance of multiples, I really want the ultrasound to find out.

I got one..it was an intravaginal one where they verified the heartbeat. All I could see was a little peanut with a heartbeat. It was so cute!

Usually they do not give an ultrsound at 8 weeks, but when they do the baby is really small and sometimes a hertbeat is not seen and may cause worries, but be calm. Depends on what hospital and dr ur dealing with on if they will give you an ultrasound.. some hospitals wait until ur around 12 -20 weeks..which is way to long.

Probably not. When you are this early on, they want you to have a full bladder for the ultrasound, therefore they'd have to tell you in advance of doing an ultrasound so you will be prepared when you come in. They'll generally tell you at one visit that they plan to do an ultrasound at your next appointment. They don't normally surprise you with one in a regular doctor visit.

I have no clue what could take that long to be honest. I wasn't even in that long when I had an ultrasound. I didn't get one my first visit, I did the 2nd. The first time I just answers tons of questions, got prenatals, & had blood taken.

My wife did with our first, but that was because she had taken some fertility meds and they needed to make sure she didn't have multiples. Some places will wheel in an ultrasound machine, but most will wait until they can take better measurements of the fetus so as to better determine due date.

I think with mine they sent me elsewhere to do the vaginal kind (NOT fun, BTW!).

Even if they don't do an ultrasound, there are lots of things to talk about and do on your first visit that could take a lot of time. They have to do all the regular stuff (think stirrups and breast check) plus the blood work, give you just about every pamphlet on pregnancy, discuss, do & dont's, what to eat, prenatal vitamin Rx, what to expect...
Take a pen and paper to take notes if you're nervous. Take the daddy to be if at all possible. He can be much better at supporting you if he hears first hand what's going on!

Congrats!

It really just depends on your insurance and doctor, I know many women dont get a scan until 20 weeks. But with me, with my first pregnancy, they did a vaginal ultrasound and thats when i found out i was having twins. Im pregnant now and I got an ultrasound with this one too, but my doctor has his own ultrsound machine in his office and i get one with every visit.

Not likely unless he suspect there is something wrong with your pregnancy. Like for my first pregnancy, my first prenatal visit was to listen to the heartbeat. My 2nd pregnancy I was experiecing some cramping so for my 1st visit I had an ultrasound.
