Okay well this is my 1st pregnancy and i am really confused....
I went in for an U/S and they said i am 6 weeks 6 days today. I was able to see a sac and heartbeat. It was amazing=) When i told them that im positive my last period was on 3/9/07 they calculated and that would make me about 8-9 weeks. Also i put my numbers in the due date calculator and it says i am due on 12/14 which would make me 9 weeks along (so it says). But if the nurse says that the baby is measuring 6 weeks 6 days then my due date would be off. Right?? I am trying to figure this out and i want to be able to tell people my due date but i really have NO idea!!! Can someone help me? Also i know you are actaully pregnant for 40 weeks maybe i am counting wrong or something. Sorry its so long....im just trying to figure this out!! Thank you for your time=) Anything would be helpful!

Because the u/s is different from your last menstraul period, you would be dated using ultrasound dating. Your due date would be around 12/29 or 12/30.
This is assuming that the person doing the ultrasound did a good job!

hey there, this is my second pregnancy and we are due within three days of each other. I am 9 weeks and 2 days. my last period was on March 7. The best due date that i could get was the one that was in the book your pregnancy week by week (its a very cool very helpful little book). What they say to do is take the first day of your last period count back "3" months, then add seven days to that when I did that my due date was 12/14/2007, if you do that then your due date would be 12/16/2007.
I was looking at my book and the fetal age is different than our gestation weeks (how far along we are). the book is very helpful. It may be able to give you a better idea about how far along you are and how the baby is changing and growing and wahts going on wioth your body like gaining wait, tenderness, cravings etc. ( It'll help I promise)

Pregnancy counting is very confusing. I'd stick with the 40 weeks from the last day of your last cycle as the due date, most doctors use this when determining the due date. As for the ultrasound, that's just a measure of how fast you baby is growing. My first ultrasound said the baby was measuring 8 weeks and 4 days, when I was 11 weeks pregnant. The baby then hit a growth spurt later and she's now measuring 36 weeks 5 days and I am 37 weeks. Go with the 40 weeks, it'll be the closest.

Well, they are both right so to speak.
Your last period started 3/9/07. The little circle/slide estimators that doctors use measure from the first day of your last period as day 1. Of course you didn't get pregnant on that day, you likely got pregnant 2 weeks later. An ultrasound is more accurate of course. Your baby is about 7 weeks past conception :)) That would put you at 9 weeks on those little sliders/circle estimate rs :)
38-40 weeks is a normal pregnancy....40 weeks from ur last period, 38 from conception (ON AVERAGE OF COURSE).

When they say 6w 6d, they mean that's how old the baby ITSELF is. Assuming your period came a few weeks before THAT, you would add 2 weeks (because although you're really only pregnant for 38 weeks, the common method of calculating the due date is by counting forward from the first day of your last period, which would makes it 40 weeks.)

according to your period you should be 9 week pregnant and starting your 10 week tomorrow May 12. But if you child is measuring small, it means you are off by about 2 weeks. So your due date should be about 29 December., instead of 14 december.

Most doctors go by the ultrasound not your last period, so then you are right at 7 weeks so you are going to be due in the end of December, so a x-mas baby!!!
Congrats and Good Luck

They say your pregnancy starts two weeks before there is actually a fertalized egg. So, if you are 8 weeks pregnant then your baby is only 6 weeks old. They do this because more women know their last period than the actual ovulation or conception date. Hope this helps!

your due date will vary slightly with the length of your period (add or subtracrt days if over or under 28 day cycle.....at this point the all may be just guessing (still early yet...) wait until the 13th week ultra sound or the 20 week...they will have a much better idea then...
