What does it mean when guys have their ear cartilage pierced?

Right ear vs. left ear as well. I saw this on a recent visit to my alma mater.

it doesn`t mean anything other than they like that particular piercing...& which side it`s on doesn`t indicate sexual preference or orientation at all, nobody pays attention to that any more, except narrow-minded twits!!!

one ear means you're gay the other one doesn't idk which is which, but if u r getting it done u could ask the people who are piercing it...
