Capitalism and economic growth creates jobs.

The government is not your Mommy and Uncle Sam is not your personal rich uncle.

"Mommy, find me a job! Buy my groceries! Send me to the Dr.! Pay my rent! Give me an allowance! Tell me what to do! Take care of Me, Me, ME!"

Exactly what types of jobs would you like the government to create, since most jobs come from the private sector.

Hypothetically, if the government did create more jobs, would you complain that the government is too big, or that they are playing to much of a role in the lives of the populous.

Of course if you want a government job, you can always contact your local military recruiter. They have thousands of jobs, and you don't need any previous experience, great benefits, travel opportunity, and plenty of room for advancement. You should look into it.

The government has plenty of open positions, go talk to your nearest Armed Forces Recruiter! Or do you mean a high pay, low work civil service job...more of those means higher taxes, higher taxes means less expendable income for the general public which means less buying by the general public which means a lesser requirement for the Gross Domestic Product which means manufacturing plant shutdowns and layoffs which means higher unemployment which means we need more government jobs...no wait, that's where we started. Economics really is a lot like the old every thing's connected story.

That would be very much like the New Deal era. Conservatives would fight it tooth and nail as they did then. Rather than the government providing jobs they need to encourage private industry to create jobs. A good place to start is in green energy. The door is wide open for research development and manufacture of alternative energy that can cut off our dependance on foreign oil immediately. It can be done. We have the back up oil reserves and so we can use those to wean ourselves off oil and on to alternatives. Oil companies can become energy companies. Their labs and chemists can be employed to make this happen. They won't lose money unless they stick strictly with oil and then like buggywhip makers they will die off until only a few exist and gasoline, as we know it, will be cheap because of supply and demand.

Because of misguided people not realizing that gov't policies are what took our jobs away.

A confused gov't sent many jobs overseas essentially turning us into a service economy.

As for it not being the gov't's job-unfortunately it is right now. True capitalism would create jobs, but instead we have a system that rewards the companies for acting how they see fit. They are not held accountable, the laws and regulations are stacked in their favor, they are not equal in power to the workers. The gov't allowed it, so it is their responsibility to fix it. Part of that is job creation, specifically jobs that pay well enough to support a family.

FDR's programs created jobs that helped pull us out of the depression-definately the right thing then.

Once our economy has a power balance again, then it is the companies can be expected to take care of things like that, and the gov't wont have to.

I don't believe that there are not enough jobs. I do believe that not enough is being done to prepare people for entry into the workplace. You have folks graduating from high school and can't even read or write well enought to fill out a standard job application. So there is a lack of education, a lack of training and few jobs today are willing to provide on-the-job training.

Apparently the only way they know how to do that is by the military industrial complex. So, spin the world globe around and point a country to invade so we can create more jobs.

You mean like france? Guarantee people jobs and who pays the wages? I see another tax hike to create jobs out of thin air.

Individuals need to make themselves suitable for jobs
