My wife is pregnant. She had 2 previous miscarriages. I want her to be checked out. But I am in Iraq. Her Tricare don't kick in 'til June1st. What can she do? I don't think she qualifies for Medicaid either!

If she is in DEERS (I'm assuming you did that part) she has TRICARE Standard. It's for emergencies and stuff.....

She can go to a TRICARE doctor, but she'd have a copay. She can call the local appointment line and see if they will book her a standby appointment, so she can get in, or call TRICARE directly, and see how to do it. Every region is different.

Well that's a shame. If you are in Iraq and she is your wife, why is it taking so long for her Tricare to kick in? I would think that she should have been eligible as soon as the two of you were married. It seems as though we should be caring for our military families better than that.

She should go to the military hospital or health department nearest her. She may qualify for a "presumptive medicaid" until her tricare kicks in (is state dependent). They should be able to let he know what she is eligible for there.
