The National Organization for Women (NOW) is in favor of the right to choose abortion by women. Choice is the right way. Do we really want to go back to the dark ages of back street ally abortions where women died of septasemia?

Because they believe they should have full rights to their body.
For the people making the denials - pro-choice not being pro-abortion. What kind of stupid statement is that. They are one in the same.
If people made better "choices" in sexual realtions, partnerships, health etc. there would not be as much of a need to have abortions. I believe in abortions when it is for health related issues, sexual assault, incest, etc. but currently it is too often used as birth control which I believe is wrong.
The late term abortions that are controversial right now are nothing less than murder, once the fetus is old enough to survive outside of the womb, you can't say you are aborting the pregnancy - you are killing a child after you extract it from the womb.

They are not in favor of abortion. Most pro-choice people hate abortion.
But they think the government shouldnt tell women what to do with their own bodies. Thats what the Orgs fight to protect.
Ironic considering Republicans are the party in favor of less government intrusion into lives.

Because outlawing them will just make it like the pre Roe v Wade 60s and 70s when women turned to back alley procedures that often ended in the death or disabling of otherwise heathly women. We don't need to increase the population for survival so allowing unwanted children to be born hardly makes sense. And before you all think that all those could be adopted well there are thousands of children up for adoption that age out (turn 18) before they find homes because people all want newborns. Increasing the supply of newborns means that more older kids or kids with diabilities never get adopted so in the end you aren't saving any children or providing better existences, you're just convincing yourself that you are doing something good.

Pro life people have a warped view of pro choice ideas. I don't think there are many who think that abortion should be used as a form of birth control or that you should be able to abort a baby at anytime until it pops out. Most pro choice folks (like myself) want abortion to be three things
1. Legal
2. Safe
3. RARE
Womens' rights groups want the option available. They want the choice to be the womens' because IT'S A WOMANS' RIGHT.

They are in favor of the right to choose. The right to have access to information about birth control, adoption and termination of pregnancy should be made available to all women without restrictions or fear of persecution. Why is that so hard to understand?

Actually, they are not in favor of abortion. They are in favor of a woman being able to choose their own options. Most rights organizations do not like that option. But, when religious wackos want to outlaw abortion, and also anything having to do with birth control, and the teaching of safer sex strategies, there's not a lot of choice in what to fight.
After all, the Bible does not say, "Thou shalt not kill." It says, "Thou shalt not murder." After all, the Israelites entered Canaan and slaughtered all the inhabitants of Jericho. Hardly a "thou shalt not kill" moment. And, in Genesis, the Bible says, "...and God breathed the breathe of life into his nostrils, and he became a man." SInce life begins at birth, abortion is legal and moral.

I know of no one who is in FAVOR of abortion. All believe it should be a last resort.
BUT we believe in the womans own right to choose what is best for herself and the decision should be between her, her doctor, and her God.

Because reproductive freedom is a cornerstone in the liberation of women. The right to control one's body and to make medical decisions is a basic right.

I would not characterize them as "in favor of abortion" but rather as "in favor of the right to choose."
