Depo really messes with your system... Some girls have a period for several weeks and some don't have a period at all!

I was on it for four years and hated it. I would never recommend it to anyone.

You are never supposed to have a period that lasts longer than seven days. The Depo Provera shot is well-known for causing periods that last weeks or even months. If you've already been bleeding for eight days, I would suggest you go back to your gynecologist and switch birth control methods.

Because of all the severe negative side effects women experience on the shot, I would not recommend that anyone use that form of birth control and you should switch to a lower-dose pill, ring, patch, etc. as soon as you can.

OOOH I know the feeling! I had a period when I first got on the shot that lasted about 2-3 weeks. It was annoying but when it went away, I didn't see a period anymore for months and months! I was happy about no period but I was still getting very few symptoms of PMS...like breast tenderness and minor irritability. So don't be afraid because when it go, you will be wondering when it will come back..or you will be like me and jump for joy lol. Good luck.

I loved depo, but the first few months I was on it, my cycle was all messed up! I had extended periods like yours for a few months and spotting in between and then my periods stopped altogether. My OB/GYN told me that what was happening was perfectly normal for depo. I suggest you call your Dr. so your mind can be put at ease. A friend of mine spotted constantly for the first 12 weeks so she never got a 2nd injection, I stuck it out and found that it was the best birth control that I had ever been on.

I didnt bleed at all on the shot but after I stopped I bled nonstop for weeks. I had to go on birth control pills to get it to stop. My doctor basically said bleeding nonstop from depo is not dangerous but it can cause anemia.

once I went off the shot it took months for my cycle to settle back right into a ordinary. This became years and years in the past yet i think of it took approximately 5 for me to commence having universal menstrual bypass back.

I bled for 3 months non stop. But if it is heavy you should def. go to the dr. because your blood count should be checked to make sure you aren't losing too much.
