I'm 16 weeks pregnant and the last few weeks my gums have been bleeding when i brush my teeth. I heard that was normal but now they bleed when i'm not even brushing or eating! I had a dental checkup not so long ago which showed everything was fine. Why is this happening? Anyone else experience this?

When your pregnant your bodys blood volume increases, and this puts pressure on delicate tissue and they can bleed. Also there is a thing as pregnancy related gingavitas, it will go away when you pregnancy is over. I had braces on during my pregnancy and the gum would bleed all the time. Make sure you rinse well, and use a soft bristle brush.

If the dentist gave you cordysol mouthwash i anticipate you're in England or Europe. i understand that not each and every dentist there has a Dental Hygienist so, did you have a perfect dental cleansing the place all the deposits above and under the gumline have been bumped off? this might have taken a minimum of an hour and probable required anaesthetic. This deep cleansing gets rid of all the calculus (calcified nutrition debris and micro organism) from the exterior of the tooth and root so as that the gums can heal. Bleeding gums are a demonstration of an infection, the cordysol mouthwash might basically have dealt with the exterior for some days so which you will desire to eliminate the source of the an infection, and could probable require repeated treatments approximately each and every 3 months. Gum ailment is a persistent condition and as quickly as you have it you will constantly have it (similar to diabetes). Left untreated you will unfastened the bone that anchors your tooth on your jaw and finally end up with unfastened tooth that can not be saved. i might recommend that in case you probably did not get a deep cleansing out of your dentist which you examine the neighbourhood and are available across a dental workplace that has dental hygienists on artwork tension and make an appointment there.

yup its normal though thats why when you're pregnant most doctor will recommend you to go to the dentist. I'm 18 wks and have the same problem. COuple days ago I wasn't eating or brushing my teeth and all of a sudden I tasted blood in my mouth. It's gross but normal.

It happens because your blood volume almost doubles when pregnant. The increased amount of blood can lead to bleeding gums and sometimes nose bleeds too. Good luck!

you have a higher volume of blood when you are pg. Also, the tissues in you mouth are composed of the same stuff as the tissues in you vagina ect. They are likely to be swolen and senstive. Its normal, and harmless. Good luck!

yes i experienced this with my first pregnancy...
I was told by my dentist that it could be caused also by having your mouth open and dried out for so long then if you suddenly close your mouth and the slavia meets it makes them bleed ... ( like if ur sleeping with ur mouth open and then you wake up )... that sort of thing... dont worry about it too much.. i had the same problem!!... if you already went to the dentist and they didnt find anything wrong then there shouldnt be nothing to worry about...
congrats!!!
