I already gave you the value of the first 3 on your other question. The 1872 $160 grade good to $325 in Grade extra fine. The last to are not rare or scarce so from $13 to $16 in the same grades. Remember the 1872,1883 and 1896 may have mint marks, that will change the value if they have one. The mint marks are on the reverse below the eagle. Hope this helps.

These ancient commodities are sought after simply because they are rare and hard to find. They also have utility. Gold as an exchange of trade can be found in the demand made on it by the Pharoahs of ancient Egypt as they sought it to adorn the dead pharoah. These metals (gold and silver) are considered the nobel metals because they will not tarnish. Gold, moreso then silver. Both metals are soft and are reasonably malable into jewelry, their permanance and beauty being their charm. Because of all of these qualities, it is a simple step to make them a base for monetary exchange. Today, an once of gold at 800 has considerable utility in the electronics industry providing a contact surface that is absolutly free of deterioation causing low performance. Diamonds are among the most sought after stones because of their rariety, difficulty to retreive, and their utility. Not to mention their striking beauty as jewelry but other more useful materials are giving diamond a run for its industrial buck. Increased mining on the gems and a world wide interest in the politics surrounding their mining, processing, distrubution, and restraint of trade for the purposes of keeping the retail price artificially high are causing some to reconsider thier choices in investments.
