I'm already on bed rest because my first son was born at 31 weeks. When I went for a checkup today (26 weeks, 5 days), my blood pressure was elevated to 132/86, which is considered to be in the prehypertension range. My doctor wants to see me on Monday for a retest and I have to have a diabetes blood test tomorrow morning. I did some research online and it says "preeclampsia is marked by three specific symptoms during pregnancy: water retention (with swelling particularly in the feet, legs, and hands); high blood pressure; and protein in the urine." I have the swelling in my fingers and toes, now the high blood pressure and am not sure about protein in the urine yet. Has anyone had these issues (premature 1st baby and now BP issues with 2nd) and had a healthy baby? Or even a full term baby? My doctor wants the results of the blood work and Monday's BP readings to see if everything's ok and if anything should be done, but I can't help but worry now. I never had this with my first.

Yes.
I had preeclampsia with my first baby. I was put on total bed rest on my left side for the last 8 weeks of my pregnancy. My blood pressure was a lot higher than yours though--usually around 180/110, give or take a few points.
My baby was born at 39 weeks via C-section due to a sudden worsening of my condition (specifically, gaining 6lbs overnight, swelling of the face along w/hands, legs, and feet, seeing spots, a terrible headache, and dangerously high b/p) and he was absolutely normal and healthy. He was huge--10lbs 12oz. I had to have a C-section not because of the preeclampsia in and of itself, but because: a)my baby was so big; and b)I was nowhere near the onset of labor so my doctor couldn't induce me if he wanted to.

If you do in fact have preeclampsia, it can be managed successfully. Just make sure to ALWAYS follow your doctor's orders.

First you have to relax, I know its hard but I had all those, diabetes, swelling, pressure, I had my baby at 38 weeks healthy! OK he was over weight but he was Healthy, I retained so much water that when my water broke I felt like an open hose!
Go to the doctors, they'll find the problem and they'll fix it.
I was on bed rest for the first 5 ,months. I lost my first baby though but that was because i thought I was young and nothing could go wrong, plus I didn't visit the doctor like I should have.
Good Luck babe and dont forget to relax or at least calm down.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

I had preeclampsia with both babies #2 and 3. I carried baby #2 to 36 weeks.Strict bed rest but worth it. Baby #3 was born at 38 weeks and both were very healthy. Hard on mom but babies fared well. You can do it. Good luck

Don't worry everthings going to be okay blood pressure shouldn't really effect you untill the baby is born or at least getting ready to come but you shouldn't that only makes it worst.

you will probably be on bed rest, possibly hospitalized. Prepare yourself for another preemie. Good luck
