* Eat small snackes throughout the day because hunger can worsen nausea.

* Suck on or drink sour flavors, such as lemon drops candies or lemonade

* Snack on crackers and toast

* Try ginger any way you like it (e.g. pickles, as a tea, or real--not artificially flavored--ginger ale)

With my first child I was sick all day, every day, for 9 months. I lost 40 pounds (and I'm skinny anyway) and it was the worst experience of my life. Some of things I tried were: peppermint candy is known to have a soothing effect on the stomach. open a can of coke at the bedside at night before you go to bed, in the morning when she wakes up, only move enough to drink the warm completely flat coke..sometimes that helps. If it's really bad they do have medications now that can completely alleiviate the nausea, the downside is it's cost. Good luck.

Oh I am so sorry for your wife. I had terrible nausea for 20 weeks of my pregnancy and even had to go in for IV treatments because I was barfing so much. I tried all those things that your wife tried as well and they did not work for me. The only thing that helped somewhat for me was Zofran. Her doctor can prescribe it for her. It is what they use to treat chemo patients and it is safe for baby. I didn't stop throwing up alltogether with it, but it did help take off the edge some days. It helps some women get rid of their nausea completely. If that doesn't work, her doctor can also prescribe a special sopisitory (sp?) for especially rough days. I used those sometimes and they just totally knocked me out so I could sleep. Good luck!

I was told to let my feet dangle over the edge of the bed before I got up. I also ate saltine crackers a lot. They helped. When I have an upset stomach now I drink Sprite or Coke. They seem to help now. I'm not sure how they would react with her pregnancy though. One thing I can tell you she should not eat, even though it may sound like it would help, is ramen noodles. I was so sick one day when I was pregnant with my son so I ate some ramen thinking it would make me feel better. It's what sounded appetizing at the time. I ended up throwing it all back up and it was so nasty that it made me throw up even more. Sorry it it's to graphic.

Good luck! Things will improve soon.

Nothing worked for me....It's a cruel side effect if you ask me. I have been severely sick with every single one of my children and none of that worked for me. When it wasn't severe, to the point of if I moved I was sick, then eating small meals every hour to two hours really helped even though I didn't want to eat. I did end up on Zofran for two of my pregnancies, but that was because I couldn't stop getting sick. Unfortunetly if it's just nausea, there's not much else you can do. If she can just rest a lot, that was the only thing that helped me, sleep was heaven because for a minute while I was waking up I felt normal!

If nothing over the counter is working she may have to call the doctor for prescription meds. I'm over 16 weeks and still get sick. I have two different meds I take when I can't handle being sick depending on the severity (one for moderate and one for awful). Also your doc may recommend that she try a B6 supplement and unisom as well before prescribing meds. She will just need to follow the dosage the doc says to take. Have your wife call her OB and talk with them. Good luck. Hope she feels better.

sometimes you just have to deal, but try having her eat something before she evens gets out of bed. Popping out of bed made me very sick. I would eat some crackers and drink some ginger ale before I even hit the floor.

Nothing worked for me either! I had 9 months of "morning sickness". Not a lot of fun. I feel for her. Peppermint is suppose to help with nausea. Didn't work for me but she sure can try it. Dry soda crackers?
