Probably the same as many of them had before the war on terrorism.

The US has a strong history of peacetime military spending. In fact, the war on terror has caused the military to shift a lot of it's spending, closing bases and so forth, to fund the war. That hurts some of the special interests that had been luxuriating in military funds, it helps others.
If the 'war on terror' were ended unilaterally by the US, spending would shift away from the military, which has been used in the 'offensive' aspect of the war, and shift to law enforcement and first response capability, which would have to deal with the increasing threat of terrorist attacks in the US. People working for companies designing missles, for instance, might have to get new jobs working for companies designing bomb detectors.
Whether that'd be a net loss or gain for 'industry' is debateable. While military spending has always been quite a pork barrel, 'preparedness' in every city in the nation could also be tremendously expensive for the taxpayer, and lucrative for the businesses providing the technology and manpower needed.

You want to know what the poor defense industry workers would do If there were no terrorism in the world to fight? I would be happy to deal with that problem when terrorism no longer exists! I'm sure something could be figured out for them! Your question is kind of loaded though. Kind of like asking what all the doctors of the world would do if cancer and AIDS was cured. Then what would they do for a living?

They would have the same job they have now. The war on terrorism just means our defense production has a higher percentage going to Iraq & Afghanistan. We have had the necessity for war materials since WW 2 ended because we need to be strong militarily to PREVENT more wars than we have had. We have continually improved the scope and efficiency of our weapons systems since 1941.

Answer: Energy research, a source for the stars...
You see anger has diverted their resources...personal profit that goes straight to the common good.
I guess that it has missed your narrow little pin point of view that space or weapons research has been positive for mankind...
You are not to access that tech again! Stand back from the micro-wave!
Get the point yet?
Your population figures!!! Are you a Tri-Lateralists?

They could better improve their own economy, education and become part of world trade. How many of people fighting have intelligence which could invent things, influence those around them, and possibly come up with world solutions? The problem is, how do you turn around countries that are so used to violence, murder, and mistrust to stop fighting? This is a way of life for them; going back to Biblical times.

Do you think there was no defense industry when there was no "war on terrorism"? Think again. I worked for it back in the day. We were busy funneling money to CIA front organizations and doing R&D. You can also thank us for the "Hummer"...back in the day, I worked on that . It was classified and called the HumVee urban assault vehicle.

There is always something to build. If the public has more interest in global warming industries will build greener products. It is about supply and demand.
