I had a c-section in Jan. and have just now worked my way up to being able to do 150 crunches at a time. I was doing sets of 500 before I was pregnant. I see no results and its really hard to even do this many. My c-section was emergency so I think that my muscles were damaged a little during the surgery. I did kinda make it harder on myself by gaining almost 80lbs during pregnancy. I was on a steroid in the first trimester because of a ruptured disk and gained around 25 lbs in 3 weeks! I was also anorexic before pregnancy so I did'nt really now how to eat. I guess I did it wrong! LOL! Ive lost 45lbs so far but have a long way to go. When will my muscles work right? Has anyone else had this problem?

Well done for focusing on your little one and on eating healthily. You say you are not seeing results but of course you are! You are already up to 50 crunches at a time - many people can't do that even without having had a c-section.

So that indicates that your abdominal muscles are in fact getting stronger. You're not seeing it yet because they are still covered with a layer of fat. You cannot spot reduce. You need to reduce your overall body fat percentage to see the newly 'toned' muscle underneath it. Continue to eat healthily and exercise regularly (both strength and cardio) and have patience, the fat will come off in time and you will see the results.

Well, they say it takes nine months to get it, nine to lose it.... BUT with a c-section you will probably never get it back as before because when they make the incision, they also cut nerves that never go back to as before, and they are also a crucial part in toning..... Look it up... :) So although the top half may get taut, the bottom part more than likely never will.... But Good Luck in trying..... :)

I also had a c-section.

It needs time to heal . The c-section can now be healed , but the muscles will need plenty of protein and slow regular exercise to get back to normal. Give it 1 year , eating well and exercising.( hint:: no protein, no muscle)

You have serious issues. Maybe you should see a therapist about your eating disorder. Stop worrying about your body (which, by the way, will never go back to the way it was. Pregnancy stretches your abdomenal muscles, sometimes even tears them beyond repair) and focus on more important things like how to eat properly.
