I just found out I have PCOS. Is there anything I can do to prevent getting Diabetes? Is there anything I can do to lose weight or quit gaining weight? Also, is there anything I can do to lessen my symptoms of PCOS? Any input would be helpful....

Yes, you should be on an Insulin Resistance Diet. Google it and you will find a GREAT book. Pretty much you have to limit your carbs because the extra sugar causes your insulin levels to go all over the place and makes it impossible to lose weight. I started probably two months ago after being diagnosed with PCOS and have already lost 25 pounds. Good luck to you!

Your doctor may choose to have you take a drug called Metformin. It helps make you more insulin resistance and helps many women lose weight. Eating a balanced diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables and not many refined carbs (white breads, white flour pasta, etc) and exercising at least 5x a week for 30 min is your best bet.

Your doctor should be answering all these questions for you. That's his/her job. Here's a very informative website you can look at, but do have a good discussion with your doctor about your individual situation soon.
