I am going abroad for the first time with my ten week old baby tomorrow to visit my family and i am sooo nervous. The journey's only hour and a half but still....My partner's not going with me but coming over in a few days so it's this trip that worries me. I've never been scared of flying but suddenly a week ago i started getting really panicky and i keep myself awake at night worrying about all sorts and picturing situations and just generally getting myself really anxious. Not worried about feeding/crying/space etc on the plane though, it's just that 'im not in control' bit i think....has anyone else felt like this or am i going mad...Pls help me, i need to know if anyone else has gone through similar feelings!

Please don't worry!! Believe me, when you have a young baby esp of that age , you will practically get people paying you to hold the baby while you get little things done like going to toilet or sorting your bags etc. Obviously get an official to help you out but you will have endless queues of people willing to help, even carry your luggage!!

I totally know how you feel, i flew with my 4 month old on a nine hour flight, i was having restless nights and nightmares for weeks prior , i would lie awake at night and imagine all possible scenarios, like feeding, him crying every one hating me cos i have a sreaming baby, but dont worry its never as bad as you think it will be, he only cryed a bit, and on the way out every one said what a good baby he was, . i flew again when he was nearly a year old. now thats a different story!!! it still was not as bad as i envisioned it, and i thought it would be really bad. just one word of advice , don't change his schedule to fit around the flight. , like keep him awake so you think he will sleep on the plane, it will only make him cranky and tired, and tired babys dont sleep well. the younger they are the easier it is i think.

its perfectly normal.... its cause you love your child so much you think of all the worst situations at which things can go wrong because all you want to do is poetect them. Maybe it will crash or the whole terroist thing..im not making any sense i know but i first travelled on a two hour flight with my baby at eight weeks.... he slept the whole time... i guess the movement of the plane was soothing.... just make sure he has something to dink on take off and landing to protect his ears and he will be fine... i promise.. and stop worrying the first time is always a nightmare but its gets easier...

When I brought my son on a plain when he was a baby my doctor told me to make sure he was sucking on something while going up to the sky and then down. The pressure will be a lot for him/her to handle. Even if they are sleeping go ahead and put something in there just in case or they might wake up screaming. Kyler did fine with the whole thing so I am sure things will go great.

don't worry, it's normal to be feeling nervous. Just try not to think about the parts that worry you, 'cause there's a VERY slim chance that the plane will crash or anything. just have fun on you first plane trip with your baby! good luck!

its normal, just try and stay calm about it though as the baby will pick up on your nerves and may kick up a fuss, also you might want to have something for him to suck on for take off and landing as it wont hurt his wee ears so much, if you are breast feeding you might want to give him a comfort feed or a dummy and if bottle feeding then try some cool boiled water if its not feeding time.

ask the airline for a seat with leg space usually first seat. bring bottle or if you are breast feeding let baby feed as you are taking off and landing, or just give dummy (pacifier) but its ok, i flew to canada with my son when he was 11 mths old and it was fine,

oh yes! you thingk, If the plane crashes and you die, oh well. But now, if it crashes you both die! I know the fear all too well. Just remeber, you have a greater chance of getting in a car accident every day than you do of being in a plane crash. It will be fine!! Goood luck!!
