Why would anyone like to pay taxes? The people responsible for the taxation all have jobs, so please don;t tell me that it is because they don;t have jobs. Also, it can;t be about getting votes, since no dem in history has ever run on the 'raise taxes' platform. I need to understand this mentality, so try to explain it in a way that makes sense to me. Thanks.

amazing how little many of you know about your own party...reps have spent out of control (doesn't matter if they didn;t raise taxes or revenues, they spent anyhow and we have to pay back WITH INTEREST) they also grew govt to an all time high. And you still just go on believing that dems are the ones doing these things? Incredible.

chainsaw, I need a link showing that gore ran on raising taxes. The, once you provide that, i will remind you that he did not win. So, once again, no one would vote for that,so getting votes is NOT a reason.

At one time, both platforms advocated a balanced budget for the most part.
It was just that Democrats advocated a larger budget, thus more taxes.
In other words, past Democrats advocated higher taxes to pay for more programs, while Republicans advocated lower taxes and less spending.
Democrats have remained fairly consistent in holding to this maxim. However, recent Republicans apparently no longer believe in spending restraint.

Taxes represent government power and democrats favor a strong federal government. High taxes = strong federal government! That is the premise of the democratic platform., that the federal government shall provide... The truth is that taxes are equivalent to redistribution of the wealth are are an unfair burden on the wealthy who can alledgedly afford it. No one anounces that they want to raise taxes to run for office. Don't be naive. They make promises at your expense. Feed the poor=raise the tax. national healthcare =raise the tax.better public education=raise the tax. This is economics 101. You need to understand thatthe government doesn't raise taxes on everyone equally either. Bill Clinton raised taxes more than any President in history, but he called them by other names.Luxury taxes etc... Taxing the wealthy unequally only makes them more likely to go elsewhere to do business since they provide most of the employment for the less wealthy, that goes too. The only solution is the Fair Tax Plan by which is a national sales tax that taxes purchases beside food and child care items. Don't believe the politicians in either party, their job is to make lies seem reasonable to you the voter. Think about it. Washington is so corrupt that these people spend millions for a job that only pays 200000/year. Why? money on the side and under the table. that's why

No one likes taxes, but the anti-tax lobbyists which have been gaining strength over the last two decades would have you think all taxes are bad and torment the working class and families. Actually, taxes support many states' infrastructures and many so called "tax free" areas of the country (South Dakota, Oregon) have weak school systems and lousy roads, public utilities, etc.
Many people say taxes should be done away with, and let Joe and Jane Sixpack keep their hard-earned money. But knowing human nature, none of these rubes would stick that money into their schools or roads, but rather blow the whole wad on a large-screen TV and satellite dish at their local Walmart.
Even GOPsters have to support taxes now and then, particularly Bush Sr. after he had the infamous "read my lips" promise in his campaign. They aren't fun, but they do serve a greater purpose. Think about that when you drive by a dilipidated school or rutty, crumbling road in an area where they've been scaled down by big business lobbyists.

No. My choice for President, Sen. Mike Gravel (a Democrat), would do away with the Federal Income Tax (which by the way, is unconstitutional). How that can be interpreted as wanting or liking high taxes makes no sense to me.

No idiot would ever come out and say I want more taxes. Democrats just want to run every aspect of people's live with more government programs for every minor thing. Every time we create another government program, it requires money to run it. In order to obtain the $, taxes are increased. Increased taxes hurt the middle class because they don't have the ways around taxes as the rich do, and they aren't able to be exempt themselves from taxes as the lower classes do.

Democrats love high taxes. When they are in office in Congress and president, taxes always go up. They love to steal from the rich.
Liberals use taxes as a way to control people. They use money to control the masses. They also hate success and love taxing them.
Your assessment on no Democrat ran on raising taxes is flat out wrong. Gore did in 2000.
Liberals who now own the Democrats want government to control our lives. Everything they do is politically motivated. They only want power.

this country is messed up. it is obvious that there are people out there that actually think Democrats "like" high taxes. That is pure b.s. You made an excellent point about the votes. Higher taxes will cost any party votes. That alone will tell you they do not like high taxes. It proves that Democrats are actually the ones that are more fiscally responsible. Democrats do not like to borrow and spend.

extensive deficits like the only Bush/Cheney created? Democrats are easily no longer in fee for crime, unemployment and extensive deficits. Did you forget approximately on a similar time as President Clinton left place of paintings the US replace into in sturdy shape financially? Sending production jobs foreign places replace into no longer a Democrat initiative. Republicans AND Democrats did no longer foresee the placed on and tear it may reason. Unemployment does contributes to crime. unlawful drugs (and irresponsible peddling of narcotic drugs) make a contribution to crime besides. Low element criminals who use unlawful drugs are easily no longer sober or wealthy adequate to offer drugs into the US. "in basic terms say no" and the "conflict on drugs" initiatives that have failed. optimal criminals are easily no longer registered to vote. Your question ability that Republicans can confirm those subject concerns. suggestions flash, they only had 8 years, six years with a majority, to paintings on them without fulfillment! till people who govern confirm to offer jobs returned to the US, cut back returned wasteful spending and particularly end the pass of unlawful drugs into the US the concerns will proceed to be.

Democratic voter's are not the ones being referred to so much as the democrat politicians...they always want to raise taxes and create new taxes...it's the only way they know how to continue forming and funding welfare programs...and if you have ever known anyone using these programs then you can see how much more the government is involved in their personal lives...right up to telling them it's time to take their child to the doctor...sick or not...I once knew a lady who went to a women's shelter...her life was so controlled she was miserable...she was told when to get up, when to go to bed, when to eat, when to clean her room...I don't need government telling me how to live my life.
Republicans are heavily peppered with business men who can see the error of this way of thinking...
