any guidelines for working in pregnancy? i am a retail pharmacist

its not going to hurt you any I worked 80 hours a week with my second for a while and she is just fine, if you feel tired get a stool and sit down for a bit. and get the book what to expect when expecting

Even upping that cardio to an hour for those three days helps a lot. Or doing about 10-15 sit ups and push ups a few times a week before/after work really helps! Just think every little bit counts, or even doing on a brisk walk on your break What do you do for work? If you sit down a lot, try just tightening your abs for 5 seconds each time, that is equivelant to a sit up. Try doing it like 20 times a day! It all depends on your diet also. First thing i'd say is throw that white/refined carbs away since through digestion they just turn into sugar, which equals fat. Only eat whole grains. and also throw that processed food away and start making your own meals from scratch.

I think the question is can YOU physically do a 12 hour shift. When I was pregnant I found that I needed around 10 hours sleep a night at first, otherwise I really struggled to get through the day whilst working.

In the military (as I am, and I did mechanical work through out my pregnancies) we work 55-60 weeks with an addition of a 24 hour straight duty day on top of that during the week. After you hit your 32 week of pregnancy, they cut you down to 8 hour days/40 work weeks. I assume that if the military works us like this, then there can't be to much wrong with working alot during pregnancy regardless of your job.

Unless your doctor has told you otherwise, it is fine to continue all activity normally (just don't over do it) until you deliver. Walking around will be good for you but if you can take a break to sit from time to time that will probably be a happy time for your feet. Just make sure you wear extra comfy shoes!

it shouldn't do but Ive just had a scare from doing to much i though i was miscarrying and was taking into hospital,they told me to take it easy and I'm only 8weeks,all i can say to you is that don't do anything you could regret. id speak to a midwife as soon as possible who will give you support and tell you the dos and donts good luck and all the best

If you are talking about health wise, it is up to what your body will allow. You will be able to take as many comfort breaks as needed as long as you don't take the p!ss.
If you are talking about work shift regulations then it is up to the company what they will let you do and what their policy is.

my sister worked all they way up to day ov delivery. and also took care of her small child after work that along is hard to do. so my reply is yes you should be able to work 12 hr shifts at work... but i wouldnt do it to long.. standing on your feet all day is hard with out having a baby on board...

unless you have a health problem i don't see a problem except tiredness the choice is yours. have you told your employer that you are pregnant? as they may have to adhere to some health and safety rules, which may affect you working.
