the lions will be .500 at best

We are talking about the Detroit Lions, right? I hate to say it but I expect them to picking in the top 3 in next year's draft again. Calvin Johnson is a phenom athlete, but so is Roy Williams and we've seen how good the Lions have been with him. For God's sake you've got John Kitna as a QB!

To answer your question - No, the Lions will not have a powerful offense this year, or next year, or the year after that. As long as Matt Millan is the GM and in charge of building the team, they will always be the bottom of the barrel in the NFC. They've got no QB, no offensive line, no premier running back. Two blue chip receivers will not save a franchise. Sorry Detroit, I'd start watching college football scouting reports now to see what top wide receiver Millan is going to pick with the first pick of the draft in '08.

I think they will. The defense will be their downfall because Ernie Sims cant play all 11 positions at once. But their offense should be straight. They got Edwin Mulatio from the Ravens and George Foster from the Lions in the Dre Bly trade. So their line is better than it appears to be. Tatum Bell provides insurance when Kevin Jones gets hurt again and he's a great change of pace guy who should get some carries regardless. Kitna can be your QB until Stanton is ready and Calvin Johnson made their strongest position even stronger, with Mike Furrey, who had 100 catches, and Roy Williams returning.

Yea, of course they will they just got Calvin Johnson in the draft for goodness sake and they already had Roy Williams who is a great wide receiver. The lions has had a good offense for a while but they haven't had the receivers that they needed to be successful. Roy Williams is good but not that good he can't carry the team by his self. Also they will have an even better offense since they got Drew Stanton as a quarterback in the draft because hes a great QB it's just that at Michigan State he wasn't able to show off his skills as much because his wide receivers dropped too many passes that shouldn't have been dropped in the first place.

I'm not sure if "powerful" would be the best word for it, but surprising might work. I think you're going to see some good things this year from the Lions. Through their offensive line is a question, they have a veteran QB in Kitna, who has done really well in the right situation. Not to mention the addition of Calvin Johnson with Roy Williams on they other end, and Kevin Jones starting to blossom. I think you can look forward to a mid to high-mid offensively ranked team this year.

They have great WRs in calvin johnson and roy williams. Even mike furrey. We need a little better O-line though. And we need to bench kitna and start our second round pick from michigan state (dont want to say his name, im a u of m fan) We also need a running back. Not sure if our new recruits are gonna replace our injured kevin jones enough but they wont do to bad. I think the lions will be better offensively than last year but need more restructuring in the qb, rb, and o-line

The have the potential to be only if :

Roy Williams does his thing like last year.

Mike Williams has good pre-season and shows he can play.

Kevin Jones's injury is healed 100%.

Calvin Johnson plays like the beast he was at Georgia Tech.

And most of all Jon Kitna does not lead the league in picks and toss the Lions out of so many games as he did last year.

theyll be ok the thing is though they have very good wide recievers but not a great qaurterback to throw them the ball. they just need the most important part of the offense a good line. it was the reason for turnovers and a bad running game last seasonkitna had 4,000 yards last season but he had a heap of interceptions and fumbles. the passing game will get easier this season as they will have a better running game with bell and duckett. last season teams relised if u shut down the running game and cover roy williams they have nothing. this season they have calvin johnson, tatum bell, roy williams,tj duckett. so kitna just needs to carry the offense and let the younger better players win games. .

As long as the Ford family continues to insist that the Detroit ticket holders and fans "go home and have sexual congress with their own mothers" by retaining the football world's most toxic GM, Matt Millen, you can rest assured that the only "powerful" and "offensive" thing in Detroit will be the continuing stench emanating from Ford Field during the coming season...........

The Lions have not had an effective offense every since Eric Hipple was QB

They should've taken Brady Quinn when they had the chance! The Lions should fire Matt Millen already and revamp the entire front office & coaching staffs on both sides of the ball!
