You don't say when you believe you ovulated but the answer nonetheless is: yes, it could well be too early.
A pregnancy test will not yield a positive result until there are sufficient levels of hcg in your urine. Your body begins to manufacture hcg only after a fertilized egg implants in the uterine lining -- an event that, generally, occurs roughly between 5 days and 10 days after ovulation. You can use the same brand of sensitive test on two different pregnant women, on the same day post ovulation....if implantation occurred for one of those women on, say, day 5....and implantation for the other woman did not occur until, say, day 10...the first woman will get a positive result sooner, regardless of how sensitive the test is.
Since you're just 5 days away from when your period is due, I suggest you wait until your period is late before testing again. In early, healthy pregnancies hcg levels typically double every 48 to 72 hours, so waiting a few days can mean a relatively significant difference in hcg levels and can be the difference between a negative result and a positive one.
Best of luck to you.

Yes most definitely. My b/f and I were trying and I was very anxious to find out. I took a test(digital) and it said"not pregnant" I figured maybe it was too early cause I was so hoping I was pregnant. Then 7 days later I took it again and I got a "Pregnant" So wait a little while and take it again...Good Luck

You tested too early.
I took one of those "early" pregnancy tests just ONE day before my period, and it came back negative. I retested a couple days later: poof! Pregnant.
The earlier you test with those early pregnancy tests, the lower the accuracy chances are.
GOOD LUCK!

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, but probably not. When you are pregnant you know it...period. I had many scares before the first time I actually was and after that you can tell the difference. If you really want a baby, symptoms can be and are often in your head. If you tell yourself your breasts are sore, they will feel sore...

Sure it could have been too early. Early pregnancy symptoms mimic PMS symptoms... wait another day or so... use your first morning urine so that it will be more concentrated and will be easier to detect the pregnancy horomone.
Best of luck !:)

i think there could still be a chance for a positive reading. the same thing happened to me. i now have a 7week old baby =)
sometimes pregnancy test can't really read the hcg levels as well as lab work can. so i suggest you get blood work done to be sure.
