What makes me a survivor? is the fact I am still alive from all of my adventures and misadventures. I've been in an explosion, gone mover a cliff in a car, nearly drowned twice, was poisoned with chlorine gas. I believe that would make me a survivor. If not then I would not be answering this question. Being a sruvivor does not mean I went unscathed in any of those incidents. But, it does mean I can look back at them and remember the horror as they happend, and the joy that I lived through them.

I think everyone figures out quickly that life isn't fair and good things don't always happen to you. You are and always will be the total of all your experiences-both good and bad. You usually learn more from the bad experiences. So it's up to you to get back up, figure out where you are now since nothing will be the same, and then make good decisions about where you are going and who you are going to be. It isn't always simple but remain true to yourself. Don't let anyone or anything take your feeling of worth from you and fight to be who you want to be. Adversity does strengthen you and you will end up a strong positive person. Basically you cannot change what people will do to you but how you react and the choices you make dictates who you will become. Choose wisely.
